So, I spent most of yesterday doing a spring clean while my dad’s on holiday as I don’t think it’s natural for one man to make so much unneeded mess! Little did I know it was going to be a vintage goldmine.
I’ll admit, I did know that my dad was going to have some crazy items in his wardrobe.. as a kid I was haunted by the memories of going on holiday and feeling constantly embarrassed that my dad would even consider wearing “those” shirts. You guys know the ones I’m on about, the avoidable Hawaiian shirts.. the eccentric art deco shirts and my own worst nightmare the undeniably hideous linen tunic shirt..things?
However, what I didn’t realise was that I was literally going to want to steal the majority of his wardrobe now that I’m old enough to not feel overshadowed by intolerable embarrassment.
As Macklemore would say “I’ma take your grandpa’s style, I’ma take your grandpa’s style,
No for real – ask your grandpa – can I have his hand-me-downs?” Replace the grandpa with dad and I am there! I am the real life Macklemore.
i’m not even sure how to describe this shirt.. it’s a well blended mix of safari and hawaiian all in the same shirt! I can’t remember this shirt looking this nice when it was on my dad so to help him out I’m going to look after it for him, while it’s hanging up in my wardrobe. It’s perfect for summer and coincidentally goes perfectly with my high shine leggings and ruched bandeau top.
Here is a perfect example of one of those kooky art deco shirts.. I definitely remember this one as a kid but with so much luck trying on the last shirt i decided to try again and see what happened. I’m not 100% sure what I’m going to wear with it yet, but it fits well and the pattern is quite fashionable at the moment.
Who knew my dad was a style icon? yeah me neither.
